You might be quite tired of current events in the U.S., so you might find that it is a good time to be a dog. Maybe you need a poem on that theme.

New Verse News publishes poetry about current events. (They published two other poems of mine in the past)

Read the dog poem here: https://newversenews.blogspot.com/ or below.

Bark, Bite, Beg, Fight, Roll Over

It’s a good day to be a dog
just a dog, with a dog brain
blissfully unaware of red and blue tallies,
unburdened by disappointment,
indifferent to triggers or loud words,
unless someone is reaching for a leash.

It’s a good day to be a dog,
fearless, undaunted, exuberantly
ready for any future
confident that tomorrow will be
pretty much the same as today and
the hydrants will be in the same place

It’s a good day to be a dog
keeping dignity when the pit bull passes,
keeping calm when the cats tease,
looking neither left nor right but straight ahead,
putting one paw in front of the other,
tormented by nothing except maybe squirrels.

I like it a lot. Dogs are not too worried about elections. They also don’t have to go to work

  8. Hi,I like this. A dog’s outlook on life is better than a human’s. Easier on the head.It also made me smile. Thanks for sending it. I am going to forward it to Kathy, as she has a dog that she treats like a human, too. Judy
